Home #30, La Isla...more money stolen and more fraud

I am a partner with Kim Gollehon.
We bought Home #30 in 2006.
We put a deposit of $225,000 USD and it was supposed to be completed by December 2006.
This was to be my home on La Isla.

3 years from the time I invested my money, the home was finally completed...but the amazing truth is: Manuel Cristerna sold it to a Mexican Judge and kept all of the money...almost 1/4 million $ gone !....No interest; no payback of money; no home !!!

This was only 2 days after he had gotten out of jail from stealing $400,000 USD from Ron and Kim Gollehon (they never got this money).

Manuel met with me in 2007 and tried to lie to me about Ron Gollehon.
I have seen all of the contracts and canceled checks & wires sent to Manuel Cristerna, Ubaldo Rojas and Sergio de la Pena.

Gollehon's group invested over $2.5 million with these thieves and have not received any of the homes or condominiums that they invested in.

I thought Mexico was a safe place to invest. A friend of mine was going to invest $5 million in Mexico...I told him not to do it !

This has been an absolute nightmare for all of us Americans, who trusted that the Special Master Trust set up by Marina Mazatlan would protect us from crooked builders.

  1. I sincerely sympathize with you... This guy and some members of his group are something else.

However, I plea to you to consider that this is not a case that is sensitive to Mazatlan, and not sensitive to ALL of Marina Mazatlan, La Isla, and especially not to Mexico as a whole.

In fact, this is something that has happened (even recently) in areas with many security mechanisms such as Vancouver, Toronto, Miami, Panama, Costa Rica, and so on.

Here in Mazatlan, as in many parts of the world, there are MANY legitimate builders, developers, and sales people who work hard to bring satisfaction to clients.

One individual or group should not be the bad egg that spoils the whole bunch.

    Generalizations are very dangerous.

Best of luck to you in your future endeavors and I too hope that the criminals (not only in Mazatlan) are all brought to the table and dealt with accoringly.

  2. Timeshares need to be looked up as a purchase and not an investment. Regardless of how timeshares are presented, they don't perform as well as a house or stock investment. If you look around the resale market for timeshares on websites like EBay, Redweek, or TUGBBS will find that you can buy a timeshare for far less money than what the first owner purchased it for: Is timeshare a good investment?
